Fashion label Stussy recently dropped a documentary about James Dewitt Yancey, better known as J Dilla. With February 10th marking 4 years since his tragic passing, the month has been filled with tributes to the legendary producer & MC; including a Cookin’ Soul mixtape honouring both Dilla and Big Pun, who passed away in February of 2000.
In addition, Stussy plans to release a commemorative tee & have “Dilla Days” at their various North American outlets. – [stussy.com]

As I was taking in my weekly recap on 1loveTO, I came across this other post that I figured was necessary for me to re-post on iluvlola.net.
Last year I missed Nuit Blanche downtown and I definitely do not want to miss it this year. And if you have, I don’t think you should either!
The magic of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche will return to light up the city on Saturday, October 2, 2010. Once again, the city will be transformed by art including Exhibition, Open Call and Independent Projects. If you have an idea for an art project, you may apply to participate in two categories: as an Open Call Project or an Independent Project.
Open Call Projects
Each year the City of Toronto works with a group of curators to create a series of Exhibition areas. In addition to the commissioned projects, each curator selects several Open Call projects to compliment their curatorial vision. These projects are selected by the curators.
Open Call Submission Deadline: Monday January 25, 2010
Independent Projects
Toronto artists, museums, galleries, cultural and educational institutions, neighbourhoods and BIAs are invited to submit their plans to be an Independent Project. Selected projects are chosen by an autonomous advisory board. All projects must meet Scotiabank Nuit Blanche criteria outlined in the Guidelines for Independent Projects.
Independent Project Submission Deadline: Monday, February 15, 2010.

Wiz Khalifa’s official album release party went down last night in NYC at the Highline Ballroom!! It was hosted by Angela Yee and Combat Jack. Ernest Estimé was our correspondent photographer at the event. Jabari and Neako were also in the building to show their support! Thanks to Arthur Pitt for the heads up.
Wiz’s “Deal Or No Deal” is currently at #17 on the iTunes charts in the Hip Hop Genre.

Last night SOB’s presented HOT97’s Who’s Next Live starring B.O.B. hosted by HOT97’s Rosenberg. DJ Juanyto was spinning, and Young Dro also performed. Maino was also in the building. One of our good friends that attended the show sent us some photos of the event. I’m sure better ones will be circulating on the net tomorrow, but remember who brought them to you first!

This past Thursday, I went to Montreal for Belly’s Mixtape release party at Time Supper Club hosted by CP Records with special guests Danny Fernandes, P Reign and DJ Smallz! I don’t have all the photos yet, but here’s a couple from the performances.
The crowd was loving it. There were people that honestly knew every word to songs like “Rain Fall” and “Private Dancer” as if it were their record.
