#iCHATSESSIONS WITH B.o.B (aka Bobby Ray) ON ILUVLOLA.NET from iluvlola on Vimeo.

I’ve interviewed B.O.B several times and every time he is more gracious and extraverted than the last. His answers are genuine and he truly invests himself in the conversation. If you don’t know about B.o.B yet, shame on you. He’s not only a good musician, but has been on the grind hard for the past 2 years to put himself on a different level than most artists coming out.

B.o.B’s debut album “The Adventures of Bobby Ray” was scheduled to be released on May 25th, and to build anticipation for this day; he put together a mixtape titled “May 25th” presented by Grandhustle, The Aphilliates and LRG, hosted by DJ Drama and DJ Sense. The mixtape had an incredible buzz and reception among fans and media critics, and soon after, the release date of the album was changed to April 27th. “I kind of got a little mad,” B.o.B says in our session. “Because usually when something gets changed is usually something that you don’t like. Just my intial default response was, why they doing that?

In an interview with XXL during BET’s Rip The Runaway, B.o.B also disclosed information about a track on the album that features T.I. titled “Fifth Dimension” which is co-produced by T.I. himself and Grandhustle producer Lil C.  “B.o.B is a very talented musician,” Lil C told me (Lola Plaku) last time we spoke. “We have great chemistry when working together and it’s definitely going to be a nice album.” Labelmate Lupe Fiasco will also be featured on “The Adventures of Bobby Ray” which will be released under Atlantic/Grandhustle/Rebel Rock.

B.o.B’s U.S.A. tour with Lupe kicked off Friday (March 5th) in Clarendon, California. “We got in the studio first and then we started doing show dates together and then it kind of evolved into a full out tour,” B.o.B told VIBE. While video of the Atlanta newcomer performing his album cut, “Yesterday,” has already hit the web, he also plans on premiering a few other tracks on stage, including “Go Through the Machine” and “Letter From Vietnam,” which is inspired by a true story. ps. The actual session was 25 mins long as we kept joking and laughing, so I thought I’d keep the important stuff only and shrink it down a bit! Enjoy!

Game_Dre-440x347

In part one of the DJ Booth interview with Game, the Compton heavyweight talked about his newly “The” free stage name, the status of theD.O.C. (Diary of Compton) project he described in his June ‘08 Booth interview and why, contrary to popular belief, he’s not a big fan of hip-hop beef.

Here’s part 2 of that interview, in which Game discusses his feelings on going into the studio with such top-tier producers as Dre, Primo and Pharrell, where he places in his own “Top Five Rappers Alive” list, and why he actually doesn’t want to see weed legalized.

“I don’t read comments or blogs, because you never know who that person is. That person could be someone in the middle of f*ckin’ Iowa whose opinion doesn’t really matter, or they could be insecure, they could be a fan or not be a fan. So I don’t have time for that. I used to read ‘em when I was younger, and sort of go this way or that way, but these days I just put out music, and you can make your opinion on it what you want.”

Eccentric Muchmusic personality Nardwuar interviewed Kid Cudi recently in Vancouver, BC. The interview in a word: Interesting. Veeery interesting.

Game_Dre

In part one of Game’s exclusive interview with DJBooth.net, the heavyweight rapper discusses the reasons behind his decision to drop the “The” from his stage name, why his reputation as a beef-lover is a misnomer, and the status of the D.O.C. (Diary of Compton) project he described back in June of ‘08. Part 2 of the interview drops on Thursday!

Quotable:

DJ Booth:  So now, on this new album, with less to fight for in terms of what you’ve already dealt with, are you confident you’ll be able to move forward?

Game:  Yeah. But there’s still more to fight for. Hip-hop. I mean, not to take anything away from the Drake Era – I like to call it the “Drake Era” ‘cause he’s the most prominent artist in modern-day hip-hop, and he’s great; I’ve got a lot of love for Drake. He’s a dope artist, I listen to his music, and so does my girl and my kids and everybody else in the world – it’s the Drake Era. But I’d still like hip-hop to sort of slide back to the art form I know it is. I don’t know if it ever will, but hip-hop keeps changin’ every day, and with guys like me campaigning and lobbying for it to resurface, I think we’ll be OK. So I’m still fightin’ for that, and the way I fight for that is just to make my albums the way that I make ‘em, the way that we both know and all the other people that listen and support me know that I can do.

Last week I sat down with Zone4/Interscope recording artist Jared Evan for one of our #iCHATSESSIONS. Jared recently released his mixtape “Radio in My Head” presented by Rik Cordero and hosted by Polow Da Don. From the tape a few singles have been released.
The first one was “Frozen” video for which was directed by Rik Cordero and two singles were released his past weekend “The Reign” and “Gone“.

The interview was very inspiring! He is a really cool kid…very down to earth, working with some legendary people in the business. He has gotten in the studio recording with Timberland, Polow, Hit Boy, Chase N. Cashe and many others. When we did the interview last week, he was in Miami doing more recording for his upcoming album, which he says we should expect in early-mid 2010.  This is just a brief version of the interview. If you’d like to see the full 25 mins of Jared and I talking, check it out here [http://www.vimeo.com/8087611]

I’ve been a Jully Black fan for the longest time, her voice is just so powerful. She’s been a main-stay in Canadian R&B for over 10 years and she never disappoints. Running is the first single from Jully’s 3rd album The Black Book; in stores now.

The amazing video dropped a few weeks ago, and was directed by Canadian director Marc André Debruyne

In case you couldn’t tell, Complex loves music videos. Earlier this week, we dropped our comprehensive countdown of the 100 Best Music Videos of the 2000s (click here if you missed it), but something was still missing. What would music videos be without the so-called “video vixen,” the model/dancer/actresses who provide us with a little aspirational eye candy in our darkest hour?

The last decade has truly been the golden age for the music video model, from icons like Melyssa Ford to new favorites like Rosa Acosta. Even some of the world’s sexiest celebrities (ScarJo!) have made memorable video appearances, so Complex wanted to provide a comprehensive look back at all the ladies who have caught their eye on MTV, BET and YouTube over the last 10 years.
