Supra NS Spring 2010 – Strapped II

Steve Aoki’s signature shoe has been completely redesigned from the original – the new model retains the signature four-strap design while sporting a taller cuff and lower-profile vulcanized sole. The Strapped II will be relaesing over the next two months in Black Full-grain Leather, Grey Canvas and Acid Wash Denim versions.

Nike Vandal Hi “Rock Edition” Spring 2010

Nike has come out with a studded rock edition of the Vandal Hi for Spring 2010. The high top sneaker comes in a black/gold colorway with the upper made of nylon, leather and an extensive parts with black studs. The sneaker is now available from Wish.

Great Read “Hip-Hop’s Shadowy Empire” (BMF)

You ever wonder where the phrase “making it rain” in hip-hop comes from?? You ever wonder where the beef and animosity between rappers Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane came from? Many of you may have no idea who Big Meech or BMF is, but I do. A few hours ago, I came across this incredible 3 part article written by owner of Atlanta’s Creative Loafing website Mara Shalhoup, which was published in 2006. In the article Mara discusses in through detail who Big Meech and BMF (Black Mafia Family) was, their involvement in hip-hop and how they conquered the party scene in Atlanta…but more interestingly, Mara highlights in specific detail the conversations (via wiretraps from the FBI) and specific incidents that put Big Meech and his brother Southwest T behind bars for 30 years. Rappers mentioned in the article include Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Bleu Davinci, Fabolous, among others. So if you can’t answer my first two questions, make sure you read this. It’s one of the dopest and most articulate articles I have read about anything in a while.
“The 2006 indictment against BMF and its members also seeks the forfeiture of “more than 30 pieces of jewelry, 13 residences, 35 vehicles including Lincoln Limousine, BMW’s Range Rovers, Aston-Martin, and Bentleys, numerous bank accounts, over $1.2 million in seized currency, and a money judgment totaling $270 million [source]”
They’re not dismantled,” says a law enforcement source, who estimates that BMF’s Atlanta members still number in the hundreds. “There’s still action, still activity even in the Atlanta area. They’re just not as flamboyant as they once were.”
Message-board chatter and online comments, including responses to the first two parts of this series, testify to the staying power of the BMF myth.
“Meech proved himself to be a credible guy to those in the industry as well as in the streets, which is why you will NEVER hear anyone speak ill of his name,” one man posted on a SOHH.com message board. “The man was genius at diplomacy, and his ability to network amongst various factions is unparalleled.”
As Meech himself says — in a letter written in a St. Clair County, Mich., jail cell and posted on his MySpace page — the game is far from over.
“As you can see they can lock up my body, but not my mind! The world is still BMF’s. I’m still focused on my ‘vision,’ making my challenges temporary but my ‘vision’ permanent.”
Regardless of how the federal trial shakes out, Meech will keep on commanding respect — a respect that’s unfathomable to some. His hustle, however right or wrong, will still be worshiped. And he will continue to be known as a man who came from little and wound up, for a time at least, with everything

Stussy x CLS Glasses
