You may remember Lee Carr from when he first appeared on the Def Jam-produced Waist Deep Soundtrack, with his song, “Act Like That.” Last year, Carr left Def Jam Records For Jive Records, where he signed a multi-million dollar contract. Carr is currently in the studio working with many noteable producers including: Stargate, Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Danja, and others. It should also be noted that Carr is also a songwriter. Bun B Explains Plans for Final UGK Album
Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Almost 2 years after his untimely death, Pimp C will receive a musical sendoff via the release of UGK’s final studio album.
Entitled UGK 4 Life, surviving member Bun B is crafting the LP as a work that culminates not only UGK’s 20 plus year history, but also the life of Chad Butler, known to fans worldwide as Pimp C.
“The new UGK album 4 Life is the final studio album from my late great brother Chad Butler aka Pimp C and myself,” Bun said in a statement. “It is my sincere hope that it’s a fitting bookend to the legacy of UGK and to the life and times of Pimp C.”
UGK first appeared on the national scene with the 1988 EP The Southern Way.
The duo went on to have one of the most consistent careers in Hip-Hop with five well received albums: Too Hard to Swallow, Super Tight, Ridin’ Dirty (Gold), Dirty Money, and Underground Kingz (Gold).
Their last album was the group’s first #1 LP, courtesy of the Grammy-nominated, Outkast collaboration “International Player’s Anthem (I Choose You).”
According to Bun, the new album will be a fusion of the signature UGK sound they’ve cultivated over the last 2 decades.
“UGK 4 Life is an album for the people,” Bun declared. “For all those people who have been with us from the beginning to those we’ve gained along the way, family, and friends, the street cats and the squares, the supporters as well as the detractors.”
Jive Records has targeted UGK 4 Life to be released in Spring 2009.

Thanks to the homie TC for the borrowed title and the link to the posting.
Ozone magazine posted these photos online from T.I.’s performance in Vegas at Jet nightclub’s 3rd year anniversary. He took his Akoo tee off, and after wiping it on himself, handed it over to a “lucky” fan. I have no words. Not really too thrilled with this though…

Let it Rock

Ladies and gentlemen the album we’ve all been waiting for?!? Lil Wayne announced the official release date and title of his next album: “Rebirth” is due April 7 — and his publicist has confirmed to MTV News that it will be a rock album. This new album will have absolutely nothing to do with “The Carter III” or anything else he’s done. Weezy even goes as far as saying “ I don’t know if we’re gonna release Tha Carter IV now,” he told MTV News on his tour bus. “I think we’re gonna release Tha Carter I
II — a new Carter III with none of the same songs, though. None of them. Not one! We don’t wanna call the [next album] we got coming out Tha Carter IV. That was the dilemma we were in. We want Carter IV to be what everybody wants it to be.” He also told MTV “This is something brand new, so we don’t want it to be some experimental thing, ’cause some people are not gonna like this. I don’t want them to not like Tha Carter IV. But I do have an album coming soon, very soon, and it’s gonna be called … Tha Carter III: The Rebirth. The birth of a new beginning.” Love him or hate him the man is brave, he believes in the new direction his music is going, maybe that confidence in his Rock album is because it will actually sound good? I guess all that’s left is for us to wait. His first single off the album is called “Prom Queen” will debut on the Internet right after a live stream of his concert in San Diego on January 27. ( concert will be available on Myspace) Once again that album is called “ Rebirth” and is set for release on April 7th.

This summer I was introduced to a new artist, by the name of Trish. Luther Brown, the choreographer Judge on So You Think You Can Dance Canada, is one of the people behind Trish’s project, and my homie Spinz, put me on to her initially. I caught the VERY last bit of her performance at Manifesto, and unfortunately went to Atlanta after that, so I didn’t get a chance to check out any of her further performances. Now that I’m back in Toronto, I’m seeing Trish’s name everywhere, so I figure she’s definitely putting in work. Her first video “Don’t Watch Me” featuring the homie, J Diggz, was directed by the other homie, Lil X. Check it out.
