Posted on December 31, 2008 by Lola

It seems as though you have already been introduced to the members of my brand new ILUVLOLA team! They are 3 fellow bloggers who will be contributing to the content and vision of this blog on a regular basis.

http://www.iluvlola.blogspot.com/ can now also be accessed through http://www.iluvlola.net/ which will be the official website for myself and my company. http://www.iluvlola.net/ is currently under construction and will be launched in January of this upcoming year. It will be more of a promotional vehicle rather than your typical media blog. My team will be bringing new things to the table, and you can also bring things to the table with regards to content. Just e-mail me at iluvlolablog@gmail.com

Also make sure to check my team’s personal blogs when you get a chance

I was going on several other websites and everybody seems to have their 2008 recap in check. Numerous blogs have posted the hotest records of 2008, hottest videos, or biggest headlines. Checking out http://www.2dopeboyz.com/ (and reading the comments on the Soulja Boy video) brought me back to hip-hop in the earlier stages of the music…circa late 90’s – early 2000. I thought instead of doing a recap of what happened in ‘08..I’d do a recap of some of my most memorable records and videos. Mind you this is merely a collection, but just a slither of a movement. Videos I couldn’t get the code for but who need to be in this list are Nas – Hate me Now, Dead Prez – Hell Yeah, Cypress Hill – Rap Superstar + Insane in the Brain, and Jermaine Dupri ft Ludacris, Diddy, Murphy Lee & Snoop – Welcome to Atlanta (Remix).

These were the videos that you actually sat on the couch to watch when Rapcity came on. The songs that when you hear in the car to this day, you say “That was my song!!…Turn it up..turn it up…whoooo“…That’s me. Watching these videos again made me smile. I love hip-hop now, and this is the reason why I fell in love with it in the first place. No AutoTune necessary. Just bring your mic and a heavy freestyle. (in no particular order..)

OUTKAST – ROSA PARKS (Back of the bus) I wanted to post Bombs Over Baghdad, but Sony closed the embedding, so I couldn’t post it. Rosa Parks is just as vivid of a record.
Ps. I met Big Boi recently in Atlanta at Stankonia studios, and he is an absolute sweetheart. Really nice, chill, and laid back. It was like kicking it back with a piece of history….sigh.
BUSTA RHYMES – BREAK YA NECK
XZIBIT – X (Cameo by Wu Tang + Dre+ Snoop)
COOLIO – GANGSTA’S PARADISE
WU TANG CLAN – GRAVEL PIT
NOTORIOUS BIG – JUICY
MOBB DEEP – SHOOK ONES (Really wanted to put Quiet Storm too…)
FOXY BROWN FT. JAY Z – I’LL BE (Their Sunshine collabo was just as dope)
JAY Z – BIG PIMPIN (Among countless other Jay Z records)

CASH MONEY – HOT GIRL (Back that A$$ up & Bling Bling were my other two choices)

SNOOP DOGG – WHAT’S MY NAME
DR. DRE – STIL D.R.E

NELLY – COUNTRY GRAMMAR

JA RULE – HOLLA HOLLA
