JAY Z + AMY WINEHOUSE IN GLASTONBURY
Posted on June 30, 2008 by Lola
The Glastonbury is the largest music and performing arts festival in the world. The festival is best known for its contemporary music, but also features dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and many other arts. The first Festival was held on the day after Jimi Hendrix died, over a two day period and before long “word had got around”. For 2005, the enclosed area of the festival was over 900 acres (3.6 km²), had over 385 live performances and was attended by around 150,000 people. In 2007, over 700 acts played on over 80 stages and the capacity expanded by 20,000 to 177,000.
Glastonbury was heavily influenced by hippie ethics and the free festival movement in the 1970s, especially the Isle of Wight Festival. Organiser Michael Eavis stated that he decided to host the first festival, then called Pilton Festival, after seeing an open air Led Zeppelin concert at the nearby Bath and West Showground in 1970.

And here are 3 videos from the show!
JAY Z
(Why is he bringing out a guitar (look familiar? think Lil Wayne) and singing along to Oasis – Wonderwall?? NOT feeling the look)
Jay did his thing though…
oh I must also note that Jay Z was a headliner and this was the first concert in 15 years that did not sell out. They not only had to do another ticket launch date, but were left over with 3000 unsold tickets prior to the event. A lot of people thought the headlining hip-hop acts (Jay Z) were the cause for the poor ticket sales, but founder Michael Eavis claimed the reason to be poor weather condition in the previous years.
Based on Jay’s performance and the crowd’s response, it seemed they loved him, even after his corny guitar stunt and oasis mutering opener….
LUPE FIASCO – He’s an awesome performer…I think Lupe’s energy is built on just watching his fans and giving back to them for appreciating and supporting his music. Go Lupe!!
AMY WINEHOUSE ELBOWING A FAN!!
(This girl is REALLY messed up. I saw a video on youtube of her 2005 prior photos and she was beautiful. Drugs can REALLY fuck you up…she looks like a completely different person now than she was then. My prayers definitely go out to her and her family…)
