The Glastonbury is the largest music and performing arts festival in the world. The festival is best known for its contemporary music, but also features dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and many other arts. The first Festival was held on the day after Jimi Hendrix died, over a two day period and before long “word had got around”. For 2005, the enclosed area of the festival was over 900 acres (3.6 km²), had over 385 live performances and was attended by around 150,000 people. In 2007, over 700 acts played on over 80 stages and the capacity expanded by 20,000 to 177,000.

Glastonbury was heavily influenced by hippie ethics and the free festival movement in the 1970s, especially the Isle of Wight Festival. Organiser Michael Eavis stated that he decided to host the first festival, then called Pilton Festival, after seeing an open air Led Zeppelin concert at the nearby Bath and West Showground in 1970.

And here are 3 videos from the show!

JAY Z
(Why is he bringing out a guitar (look familiar? think Lil Wayne) and singing along to Oasis – Wonderwall?? NOT feeling the look)
Jay did his thing though…
oh I must also note that Jay Z was a headliner and this was the first concert in 15 years that did not sell out. They not only had to do another ticket launch date, but were left over with 3000 unsold tickets prior to the event. A lot of people thought the headlining hip-hop acts (Jay Z) were the cause for the poor ticket sales, but founder Michael Eavis claimed the reason to be poor weather condition in the previous years.
Based on Jay’s performance and the crowd’s response, it seemed they loved him, even after his corny guitar stunt and oasis mutering opener….

LUPE FIASCO – He’s an awesome performer…I think Lupe’s energy is built on just watching his fans and giving back to them for appreciating and supporting his music. Go Lupe!!

AMY WINEHOUSE ELBOWING A FAN!!
(This girl is REALLY messed up. I saw a video on youtube of her 2005 prior photos and she was beautiful. Drugs can REALLY fuck you up…she looks like a completely different person now than she was then. My prayers definitely go out to her and her family…)

GYM CLASS HEROES FT. THE DREAM – “COOKIE JAR”
Photobucket
Cookie Jar (Feat. The Dream) – Gym Class Heroes

LOVE HIM!!!

“apologies to the fans i hope you can understand it
life can change ya directions
even when you aint planned it
all you can do is handle it
the worst thing you could do is panic
use it to your advantage
avoid insanity manage to conquer
every obstacle
make impossible possible
even when winnings illogical
losing’s still far from optional
yeah they wanna see you shot up in the hospital
but one life throw punches, block ya counter like a boxer do
been locked inside mi casa too long
I did a song to make it known that the king lives on”

I will keep this fairly short, and just post videos of the performances I enjoyed the most…
I will point out however, that Soulja Boy + V.I.C. + Polow Da Don + JD + BUN B = Embarrassing. I don’t think Soulja Boy or V.I.C. are on neither Polow’s or Bun’s level.

Polow is my homey, but I would have preferred to see him spit a lil verse when Nelly and Fergie went up. They are mature, developed artists with more substance, growth and overall delivery and stage presence. PLUS Polow produced the beat for “Party people” so it would have made more sense. BUN B rapping to “GET SILLY”???This is the same guy that was honored with a “Living Legend” award (UGK) at the Ozone Awards in 2006. There was no need for him to perform GET SILLY!!! with Soulja Boy and VIC after performing with legends like OUTCAST and JAY Z. No need. Unk was cool because he’s right up their alley, and JD too.
Performances I enjoyed the most!!!!

AL GREEN – LOVE AND HAPPINESS

NE-YO – CLOSER

CHRIS BROWN FT CIARA

ALICIA KEYS FT. TLC
(Loveee TLC but T-Boz sounded off for sure. Her voice was really raspy and drained and she did NOT look like she wanted to be there. And why they didn’t show usher’s face when Chilli performed same way they kept flicking back and forth between Rihanna and Chris brown when either of them went up!)

T-PAIN FT. FLO-RIDA, RICK ROSS, DJ KHALED, BIG BOI & LUDACRIS

(I actually enjoyed the performance. However I would have liked it better if Ross had a shirt on. Ludacris RIPPED it on the mic. As far as performing, delivery & stage presence, Ludacris can bring it…)

YOUNG JEEZY & KANYE WEST – PUT ON
(Kayne sounded whack with that audio!!!…but it was an entertaining performance)

USHER – LOVE IN THIS CLUB

T-PAIN FT. LIL WAYNE – A MILLI

(I think Wayne is an entertaining performer, but I wasn’t too impressed with this. I don’t think I enjoy hearing him deliver on stage. I LOVE his songs, I probably know the Leak 3 off by heart top to bottom. His punchlines, his emotions, his recordings – everything is bad ass….but on stage. I think on stage Wayne (along with countless other rappers) sound a lil off. His voice (espc in this performance) sounds scratchy and he sounds like he’s struggling to breathe. In “Lollipop” Wayne sings and when he tries to do the same thing live, it sounds horrible…obviously Wayne is not a singer…so yah…my two cents)

Just building a little on what I mentioned above about Weezy’s performance…
I think that goes for a lot of rappers…when they go on stage live, they don’t have the same powerful delivery on the mic, and their voice sounds weak, and like they’re running out of breath. That’s why I don’t care to see rappers in concert too much…because the records sound nothing like what they sound after the post production, engineering and mixing…
Either way, I was impressed with the BET awards overall. It was nicely put together.
Definitely will be there next year. Too many things going on here this year for me to get up and go…but 2009, BET and I have a date :)

G-Unit ft. Mavado – Let it go (clean) off the new T.O.S. album in stores next week!!

Charlene and I are helping out at this Country Club in Woodbridge for a Scotiabank golf tournament! After the 50 concert I got in at about 3, and had to wake up @ 6 to get here. I feel wellll rested! lol. Well at least I'm learning all about golfing! Seems like it will be a pretty slow in the Club…

Totally not what I was expecting to hear. With Sincerely Yours Southside, 50 takes a break from all the hip-hop beefs, and takes the music on this tape back to the likes of artists like Stevie Wonder (That Girl), Rick James (Moon Man), The Tom Tom Club (when I get out) and many others. A typical 70’s – 80’s sound, the entire collection is a fun ride down memory lane. Fiddy is not rapping throughout the ENTIRE songs, which makes it easy to just nod your head when he cuts in to the original. It’s fun, it’s enjoyable, and it’s entertaining.
If you go to the download link I posted above (also HERE) you can get the entire package which also includes the front and back cover, as well as the G-UNIT commercial for TOS (Terminate On Sight), the upcoming G-Unit album. The commercial is pretty much a rip-off the “FEAR” commercials created by the NBA for the NBA Playoffs.
And for all who don’t want to download Fiddy on their computer, here’s the actual commercial..

And if you’re wondering what the NBA commercial looked like, I’m gonna hook you up with the link to see all of them! Just go to the link below or click HERE

And here’s my favorite two faces
Jamison & Wallace

They even blink at the same time…crazy!!!

Today, I had the pleasure and opportunity to go to Massari’s video shoot for his single “In Love Again.” The song reflects a more developed Massari, professing his love for music. The video was being directed by LiL X and was being shot in downtown Toronto. I had the chance of doing a very brief interview with Massari, who is an absolute sweetheart. He remembered me from the last interview we did about 2 years ago where Apple was mocking and questioning my journalism skills. But I told him!!!!(See video HERE) Anyways, the concept of the video sounded crazy the way Massari explained it, and from the one shoot I saw, it looked like it. Basically it’s a combination of “Italian Job” and “Oceans 11″ and “Bourne Identity” all wrapped in one video. I will post the “behind the scenes” photos as well as my short interview, as soon as I get a chance to wrap it up. In the meantime, here’s some photos to quench your thirst of curiosity…

I’m not sure if all of you know what Birthday Bash is, but it happens every year in Atlanta, and this year..it seemed the turn out was pretty darn good.
Basically Atlanta based radio station Hot 107.9 celebrates its birthday throwing one huge party for all the ATLiens…This year, the event was held at the Philips Arena and it hosted over 20,000 rowdy, loud, and excited fans. The line up of the concert included artists like TI, Young Jeezy, Plies, Soulja Boy, Shawty Lo, Webbie, Rocko, Gorilla Zoe, VIC, Trina, the Game, Bun B, 2 Pistols, DJ Khaled and others. Artists brought on stage were also Kanye West, Usher, The Dream, BOB, Ludacris, The Game and many many others!

The crowd sang along to pretty much all the performances and seemed extatic throughout the night!!!I soooo wish I could have been there because it seemed like a phenomenal event…I can only imagine the afterparties!!

It’s so crazy for me to see how each State in the U.S. suports its artists majorly. Hip-hop really was made BY the people, FOR the people. The South only cares and wants to listen to THE SOUTH, and once upon a time the East and West Coasts showed the same devotion to their rap ancestors. It’s a great unity…something I feel we’re lacking on this side of the border, mainly because hip-hop is not something MOST Canadians can identify with…
I’m sure we’ll figure it out…in the meantime there are a few like Kardinal, Belly, Classified and others who are doing a great job at creating attention and building anticipation..

But…without further adue…HERE’S THE VIDS FROM BIRTHDAY BASH!!!

T.I. solidifies his throne as King Of the South with his performance and also had BOB join him briefly on stage
In the middle of his performance he stops and says
I ain’t got no problems with nobody…I ain’t talking about nobody in particular
But I’mma tell you like this homeboy…
I don’t give a fuck what the situation is, I don’t care what my circumstances is, as long as there’s a breath in my body, I will be standing right here doing my motherfucking thang…no matter what…”

Shawty Lo dropped on the stage (litterally) inviting Ludacris to join him for a remix of “They Know

Jeezy shut the stage down inviting Kanye West, The Dream, and Usher all to share the spotlight with him
(Kanye)
(The Dream & Usher)

Plies I heard was also one of the most favorites of the night ..especially for the ladies…as he was making them “wet”…mmhhmm!!!

That was the wrap on Birthday Bash ladies and gents…feel free to comment on the videos!!!
