4 REAL TV!

I have meant to blog about this for some time now, and now I finally got around to getting a hold of the videos on YouTube, so finally here it goes!

Sol Guy is one of Canada’s leading music executives and has worked closely with high profile artists such as Lauryn Hill, P.Diddy, India Arie, K-os, Rascals, The Roots, Outkast, Kardinal Offishall, Dead Prez, B.I.G. and The Wu-Tang Clan. Sol is also the co-founder of Direct Current Media (DCM), and co-creator, co-producer and host of 4REAL.

4REAL is a project that began as a documentary television series that takes celebrity guests on adventures around the world to connect with young leaders who, under extreme circumstances, are affecting REAL change. These are REAL heroes of our time. Celebrity guests on the show include Cameron Diaz (in Peru), Eva Mendes (in Vancouver), Mos Def (in Brazil), M.I.A., K’NAAN, Casey Affleck, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (in Haiti) and many others. 4 REAL has expanded to include an online global community (www.4REAL.com), educational materials (4REAL School), the 4REAL Foundation and special events.

When you watch each show, you are basically going to a different country, a different landscape, and most certainly different situations, following young (or older) leaders of that particular community who are doing everything they can to change others’ lives for the better. These leaders are partners in the TV series, receiving 50% of all profits made to help support their initiatives. Just watching the show is an incredible experience.

The first show I watched, had me crying along with the people…
It’s one of the most touching experiences I have had the opportunity to watch on Television. In April of 2008 on 4 REAL aired on the National Geographic InternationalChannels (not including Canada, U.S., and U.K.) in 166 countries and in 35 languages. Pretty amazing huh?
