People are now starting to put me on to shit for my blog and it’s great. My girl Tionna in NYC put me on to this, and I definitely think it’s something worth checking out. Well the video is alright, but I think this girl needs to be supported heavily. Chani is the 14 year old daughter of NBA power couple, Doug and Jackie Christie. This girl has starred in several National TV Commercial’s and 100’s of fashion print campaign’s as well as voice overs. She is the United States National Youth Ambassador on HIV/AIDS Awareness and the Washington, DC YMCA Kids Outreach Spokesperson for 2008! As if that’s not enough for the schedule of a 14 year old, she’s also starring in her very own reality TV show Titled “Coming Up Christie”which will chronicle her journey of recording her first Album Titled MY DREAM’ due out spring 2008. LASTLY…(whew i’m already out of breath) she’s also completing her first book this spring. DAMN talk about getting it in. You think you work hard. Check yourself!
Here’s the video to her first single “Here we are again”

Ok…JUST NASTY!
*SIGH*…What don’t chicks do for a lil bit of fame…dang!

My boy Marlon (shout out SOUNDHUSTLE.COM) showed me this a couple of weeks ago, and I just rememebered about it. Dope idea. These guys have some real fun concepts and videos. They even have one where a whole bunch of them wear no pants while taking the train in New York. So basically it’s some hundreds of people showing up on the subway wearing underwear…yup..that’s it.Sounds hot right…
Check this clip out. They have a whole ralley of people that freeze at a given time at Grand Central Station.Shit is amazing to say the least.

Best Friends…:)

The Drophead Coupé is, for all intents and purposes, a perfect production interpretation of RR’s 100EX concept car, which made its debut at 2004’s Geneva show. The key elements of the 100EX remain — the thin LED headlamps, rear-opening “suicide” doors, brushed steel hood and A-pillar, and teak decking aft of the passenger compartment are all here. The V16 that powered the 100EX is replaced in the Drophead Coupé by the Phantom sedan’s proven 6.75L V12., which generates 453 horsepower and 513 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. That’s enough to propel the 5775-pound droptop to 60 mph in approximately 5.7 seconds.

Adding the Phantom Drophead Coupé to one’s personal fleet will cost $407,000 plus any additional options. But what an addition it’ll make. The car’s hand-welded aluminum spaceframe is constructed at a BMW facility in Germany and is wrapped in all-new body panels — nothing is shared with the big-brother sedan. The suicide doors allow the A-pillar to run uninterrupted to the floor, increasing the body’s stiffness. Overall, the convertible’s lines are more rounded and smooth, giving it a classically sporting look that still retains the Phantom sedan’s imposing presence.

Occupants sit in a sea of leather, wood and chrome, and when the weather’s less than perfect, a cashmere-lined 5-layer roof protects them from the elements. Rolls-Royce says that this is the largest fabric roof used on a modern convertible — a bragging right that could be challenged if Mercedes decides to bring out a production version of its Ocean Drive concept. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the car’s trunk, or “picnic boot” as Rolls-Royce calls it, which has a split opening. In addition to the traditional trunklid, there’s a folding tailgate which acts as a bench capable of supporting 330 lbs.

Sneakerpimps article (www.wrgmag.com)
Photobucket
I was producing small hip-hop and skateboarding events right out of high school in Sydney, Australia and then one day when i was hanging [out] in LA I thought it would be dope to do a show where crazy collectible sneakers line the walls….the rest is history… and no, I hadn’t seen anything like it before. I started this six years ago and to my knowledge was the first event of its kind anywhere.”
Peter Fahey – Founder
Now a world renowned event, SNEAKERPIMPS started off as a showcase of exclusive sneakers dipped in creativity, art, and of course individuality. Still true to its basic format, Sneakerpimps is a global exhibition of footwear, art and fashion that travels the world to cater to the elite of a very meticulous culture.
When Run DMC first came out with their song “My Adidas” in 1986 I don’t believe they had even the slightest idea of what was to follow. After their Madison Square Garden show and the subsequent million-dollar deal with Adidas, the sneaker craze exploded shifting from a very underground culture to more of a pop culture followed by a more corporate culture. [But we’re not here to talk about the commercialization of sneakers, so I’ll leave the last bit out of this article.] We often wonder what sets us apart from one another as human beings on an individual scale, and as part of a society on a more global scale. Whether it’s the clothes we wear, the car we drive, or the music we listen to, each and every one of us strives to differentiate ourselves from one another, yet function within a confined society with similar ethics, ideologies and direction. Sneakers provide just the distinctiveness that some of us need. While corporations like Nike, Adidas, Puma, K-Swiss and plenty of others are trying to appeal to a large mass of the youth population by endorsing mainstream and influential entertainers, who seem to have a grasp at setting trends, there are people who are dedicated to provide that uniqueness that some of us search for.

Introducing Sneakerpimps…

Founded by Peter Fahey, an Australian sneaker fanatic, Sneakerpimps travels the globe creating [for those who really and truly enjoy the individuality that a customized pair of sneakers can bring] a phenomenal event. Showcasing hundreds of different pairs of shoes, Sneakerpimps feeds off of the originality of different creators. Each show presents rare, limited edition, vintage, celebrity signed, artist collaborated sneakers and an assortment of sneaker-inspired artwork. Artists that contribute to these pieces range from world renowned Stash and Futura (appearing on the latest Toronto Showcase at Circa) as well as Doze, Shepard Faire, Haze, Cope, Dave White, Ghost, Ewok and JB Classics [with which Sneakerpimps collaborated to create JB/SP Ver’2] to mention a few. Up to date, Sneakerpimps has visited over 60 cities in countries such as Australia, New Zeland, Canada, USA, Japan, China, Belgium, The Philippines and Africa among many others. As I explained earlier, at the root of sneaker culture stand the musical forefathers that dedicated everything from mere verses to entire songs, to entire promotional campaigns in support of their favorite sneakers. To synthesize this relationship, Sneakerpimps brings on board entertainers that are respected and supported worldwide and in each particular city. For example, when Chicago hosted Sneakerpimps 2006, Chi-Town native Lupe Fiasco was the headliner of the event. New York’s 2007 show was headlined by hip-hop legends and New York natives Nas, EPMD and Slick Rick. When asked if there were any disappointments, Peter was quick to decline; “none at all.” We asked him about his best received sneaker…“Oh that has got do be the Nintendo Nike sneaker by Mtronnyx – it’s a custom shoe i got on the second ever sneaker pimps show, which has a Nintendo system built into it.” It’s crazy to see some of the things that people come up with. The designs, the creations, the artwork; it just blows you away once you take it all in. With so many people following the event religiously, does Peter consider himself a trendsetter? “I would like to think so. I mean I know for sure some artists closely associated with the show over the years have definitely gotten a lot more international recognition from being a part of the show. I know certain footwear companies have been to our shows and created shoes based on some of the customs. Also i have seen instances where we have kick started a culture in a country where there was none before and even revived it a little in other places. As for having a responsibility…I just do what i love wit this show and it has always worked.

This year Sneakerpimps visits Canada for a third time making stops in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. Headlined by DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Premier, art installations by Futura, Stash & Skam plus a Nike Dunk Anniversary display, the Toronto show packed all 3 levels of Circa with sneaker fiends that drove out in a blistering snowstorm to make sure they were a part of such a celebration. It was quite the gala, so if you have the opportunity to attend one near you, I suggest you take it, put on your freshest sneakers, rock your flyest gear, and get ready to lose your mind for an event that’s bound to leave you breathless.

Here’s some SP Goodies from ‘08. Thanks Willy for the flicks!
